Urtzi Etxeberria is a Research Associate at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at the lab Basque Texts and Language Study Center (IKER) in Bayonne (France). His research interests are focused on the syntax/semantics interface in general and on the structure of nominals and quantifiers in Basque as well as crosslinguistically in particular. He has worked for some years on the Basque definite article and the specificities that this article shows from a crosslinguistic perspective, and lately he has concentrated on the Basque partitive article from both a semantic and a syntactic perspective which relates his work directly with the main research questions of the PARTE project. His work also concentrates on dialectal variation of Basque in contact with both Spanish and French, and he combines theoretical linguistics and experimental methods.
